Graduation Project in ZSTU.
Aims at useing pixel art style to create a fresh and interesting depiction of tea garden ecology in Yunnan, China, within a fictional world, incorporating architecture from Chinese ethnic minorities such as the Bai, Tibetan, and Yi.
As the Lead Designer and Art Director for this project, I spearheaded the entire production pipeline from initial conceptualization to final asset integration.
My key contributions included:
Creative Direction & Game Design: Defined the overarching world-building and narrative framework. I was responsible for the core game mechanics, numerical design, and user research, ensuring the cultural themes were authentically integrated into the gameplay loop.
Art Direction & Concept Art: Established the visual identity of the project. I authored the architectural concepts inspired by Bai and Dai ethnic minorities, translating traditional motifs into functional game assets.
Technical Art & Material Design: Developed the tile-based texture systems and environment sprites. I focused on creating seamless, reusable texture maps that maintain visual richness while adhering to optimized performance standards.
Environmental & Architectural Production: Executed the detailed painting of all primary buildings and environmental scenes. I managed the visual composition and layout to ensure atmospheric consistency throughout the world.
Systemic Documentation: Authored the comprehensive design documentation and interaction flows, bridging the gap between artistic vision and functional game systems.
